COLLEGE LIBRARY

To some, the College Library is solely a central depository of learning resources held within the College. To those I would recommend a visit.
The multifunctional aspect of the Library within the school community carries the responsibility and difficulty of having to meet the varied needs of all its users. This can only be achieved if its users conduct themselves with respect for others’ needs as well as respect and care for the premises and learning resources.
With over 10,000 books all tastes and reading abilities are catered for. The dewey system is covered to the finest detail and an updated fiction section ensures that the latest bestsellers are always on order. Events such as World Book Day and Children’s Book Week encourage less enthusiastic readers at different points throughout the year
Home to a collection of computers, printers and a scanner means that an industrious atmosphere is usually present while the daily newspapers and a collection of periodicals allow others to browse at a more sedate pace.
The main focus of the College Library is to provide an engaging and motivating learning environment, which fosters a culture of independent learning and encourages personal development through reading. It is unique in that it is home to all boys, be they taking there first tentative steps in the College or boys who are finishing in preparation for university. The gap is not that huge when you see these boys working together.
“Reading is to the mind as exercise is to the body!”
