  A week of sporting success
 

This has been an excellent week for some of the College’s sportsmen. 

In Northern Ireland Youth Soccer the College team won a finely balanced victory over a very talented St. Josephs Derry playing in Derry.  The home team were one up when the College lads when Daniel McGarry scored a wonder goal from twenty-five metres out to draw level.  The match was finally won in a goalmouth scramble when Stephen O’Connor netted the ball.

Also in Soccer the College Under 16’s had a convincing 4-0 win over Portadown College who were playing at home.  The first to score was Niall Quinn from a penalty and this was added to before halftime with goals from Darren O’Neill and Chris McStein.  The match was put beyond doubt will a final goal from Niall Cummings.  This win this undefeated College team into the last sixteen of the competition.

 

Hurling is not a sport that the College has traditionally been strong in and so this has been especially pleasing and successful week.  It began when the  Year 9 team won the Brother Rehill Cup beating St. Benedict’s Randalstown in the Final.

 

The Year 10 team has won through to the semi finals of The McGreevy Cup where they  are due to play St. Colman’s Newry
