Dr Curtis DeBerg the founder of SAGE - Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship visited the College and Northern Ireland this week. He toured the College and accompanied students on a visit to Crumlin Road Prison.
The College will be one of the two schools that will represent Northern Ireland at the word SAGE Championships in Cape Town South Africa this July
SAGE is a global community of teenage entrepreneurs sharing a common purpose:
To make the world a better place.
Northern Ireland is the 20th country to become involved in the project. It is hoped that in the future there will be a regional competition to select the schools to represent the area at future global Championships.
What does a SAGE “team” do? Students are asked to complete projects related to:-
- “business” entrepreneurship,
- “social” entrepreneurship (e.g. community service)
- International business,
- Civic engagement in a democracy, and
- Environmental awareness.
Sage’s Mission is to help create the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders whose innovations and social enterprises address the major unmet needs of our global community.
Dr DeBerg launched SAGE in Ireland at a well attended seminar at Deane’s at Queens on Wednesday 20 January 2010.
