Pastoral Care
St Malachy’s seeks to promote an environment in which students, staff and parents are committed to the
idea of excellence within a caring, supportive community. The pastoral care system in St Malachy’s is based
on the principle of Catholic education and seeks to develop our commitment to the development of the whole
human being.
The form teacher, who meets their registration class each morning for 10 minutes for prayer, registration and
announcements, is at the heart of the pastoral care system. The form teacher liaises on a regular basis with Year Heads, Heads of School and parents on a regular basis.
Year 8 induction begins in August when pupils have the opportunity to take part in the August Sports Camp. Every effort is subsequently made to ensure that the induction process enables pupils to settle quickly into their new school. Sixth form pupils act as mentors and through regular contact with Year 8 pupils they support our youngest pupils through the transition process.
“I began in St Malachy’s College in Year 10.
I came from Poland and from the start I was
given more help, support and friendship than I
had ever had before.
This school has helped me to fulfil my dreams,
prepare me for University and I have made great friends.
I am so glad that I came to St Malachy’s, it was
the best choice."
