9A Ciaran Mc Alea Ciaran has demonstrated a very positive approach to his work from the start of the new academic year and earned a range of merits from different teachers. He is a very polite and co-operative student who has went out of his way on a few occasions to help other classmates. 9B Raymond Mc Kenna Raymond has an excellent merit record this term which reflect his diligent and mature approach to his school work. 8A: Aodhan Coogan Aodhan is an extremely well-mannered student who quietly gets on with his work and always does his best. He is very modest, however, deserves great credit for his mature attitude to all aspects of school life and for the high standard of work he has produced to date. Accelerated Reader Success

On Wednesday 28th November and Tuesday 4th December Years 9 and 10 celebrated the success of our first cohort of Accelerated Reader ‘Word Millionaires’. Miss O’Hare and Mr McGuinness presented certificates to those Malachians who have already succeeded in reading more than one million words. To have done so before the end of the Christmas term is a great achievement. Congratulations go to Gabriel Onojorhoevwo, Thomas Leggett, Manus McAlister, Gareth Kennedy and Oran Nugent in Year 10. The Word Millionaires in Year 9 are Eoin Goodyear, Toby Higgins, Thomas Irvine, Jake Massingham, Dualta Teer, John McKay, Barra Kelly and Jake Calo. Congratulations to Aidan and Michael who won the Year 10 Poetry Competition! Following their study of war poetry, students were tasked with writing their own poem about a soldier’s guilt.
