This year St Malachy's has two teams entering the prestigious Northern Ireland Schools Debating Competition. The competition (now in its twenty-fourth year) sees schools from across the North debate motions that reflect the major civic and political issues of the day.

In preparation, members of the College Debating Society braved the wind and the rain to attend a pre-competition seminar at St Patrick’s School, Donegall Street, on Friday 7th October.

At the event, organised by the Belfast Buildings and Preservation Trust, students got a feel for the competition and were informed about what they will need to do in order to progress through each of the rounds and hopefully to the final!
