Basketball Update

March 5, 2015

The U16 and U19 teams closed their All-Ireland League campaigns at the quarter final stages with narrow losses to North Monastery AG from Cork and Summerhill College, Sligo. The College has been on a remarkable run over the past decade, reaching All-Ireland finals in either one or both of these age categories, for the last nine years running. Still, Mr Fulton commends both squads saying ‘the boys can be very proud of their efforts this year as both teams reached the All Ireland Schools Cup semi-finals’.

Mr Fulton goes on to say that ‘hopes remain high that our U14 team can go a long way in the competition and keep some silverware in the trophy cabinet in season’. They started their All Ireland Schools Cup campaign on Tuesday with a comprehensive win in ALSAA over Belvedere College, Dublin. Every player made a positive contribution, with Conor Cooke the top scorer - netting a decisive 18 points. This sets up a home quarter final tie with Colaiste Colmcille, Ballyshannon. The Year 9 and Year 10 teams also start their All-Ireland League campaign this week with games over St.Mary's, Drogheda.
