On Tuesday 3rd February Rev. Gary Mason from the Skainos project in East Belfast gave a talk to our Year 14 students. Gary shared some reflections from his involvement in peace and reconciliation work both here in Northern Ireland and further afield, including South Africa and the Middle East. He encouraged the sixth form audience to be the generation that breaks the cycle of sectarian thinking by engaging with others, asking the difficult questions and considering the alternative perspectives on our history.
We also welcomed a group of Year 14 students from Belfast Boys’ Model School who recently completed the ‘Faith and Culture’ programme with some of our own pupils. They were joined by two of the facilitators from the programme – Jill and Grainne from Northern Ireland Children’s Enterprise.
