Learning Mentor - Temporary Post

The Board of Governors of the College invite applications for the above position(s).

St Malachy’s College is the oldest Catholic Boys’ Grammar School in the Diocese of Down and Connor. The College is renowned  for its outstanding pastoral care, excellent academic results and extra-curricular provision and performance. 

To provide a complementary service to existing teachers and pastoral staff in the school, addressing the needs of the children who need help to overcome barriers to learning. She/he will work intensively with young people with special and additional educational needs. The particular emphasis of this work is on helping these pupils to achieve their academic potential by minimising learning barriers. 

Essential Criteria: Applicants must possess at the closing date of receipt of application: Minimum of 2 A Levels or equivalent, grades A to E, GCSE/O Level English and Mathematics grades A to C, Accredited professional development courses in a related area, Appreciable competence in ICT, Minimum of two years’ experience in an educational setting academically supporting children with a range of special educational needs

Desirable Criteria: Educated to Degree level, Minimum of six months’ experience in a similar role managing staff.

Salary: NJC Scale Points 23 - 26 (£34,434 - £37,280).
