The first week of the school year was a busy one for Year 14 students who as well as beginning their A’level studies have to focus on the major decisions they have to make regarding their university applications. The year group took full advantage of the opportunities to attend Open Days at Ulster University (Jordanstown) on 8th September, Queen’s University on 9th September, and a small number of boys attended the Open Event at St. Mary’s University College the following week on 13th September. As well as touring the facilities, pupils attended a range of presentations relating to their degree course interests, discussed courses with university staff and developed an appreciation of the university environment. All enjoyed the experience which helped them appreciate the opportunities available on their doorstep and the relatively short period of time between now and the next phase of their future careers.
