Representatives from University College Dublin and Trinity College Dublin visited the College on Tuesday 4th and Thursday 6th November to address Year 14 students as they explore their options for studying ‘down South’.

Ms Lauren Shinkwin, a recent UCD Science graduate used her presentation to inform pupils about: the range of facilities at UCD, the practicalities of transport arrangements, accommodation, fees and potential scholarships. Ms Shinkwin also outlined the wide range of courses on offer at UCD and extended an invitation to pupils to attend the UCD Open Day (that took place on Saturday 8th November).

Trinity College representative Dr Seán O'Reilly, accompanied by past pupil Ryan Casement addressed pupils and a small group of parents in advance of the Year 14 Parent-Teacher meeting on Thursday afternoon. As well as providing an overview of facilities, courses and the CAO application system, Dr O’Reilly explained the ‘Feasibility Study for A Level Admission’ which is being tested for pupils applying from Northern Ireland for 2015-16 entry.

Ryan (now in the second year of his Medicinal Chemistry degree) provided a very positive student perspective on studying at Trinity College. He spoke about the structure of his course and described his experiences of life at Trinity during his first year in Dublin. His advice to Year 14 pupils is to seriously consider higher education opportunities in the South. Trinity College Open Day is on Saturday 6th December 2014.
