A group of Year 13 students from the College have joined with young people from throughout the diocese of Down and Connor to take part in a new Living Youth faith development initiative.
More than one hundred young people have taken part in the pilot programme that is due to conclude in late January with a retreat for all participants at Corrymeela. Mr Dowd (coordinator of the programme at St Malachy’s) explains that ‘the aim of Youth Alpha project is to encourage young people to discuss challenging questions about the meaning of life in a faith context as well as sharing good food (and having some craic!)’. This sentiment reinforced by the Director of Living Youth, Pauline Dowd, who describes the programme as “a unique opportunity to gather young people together and deliver a faith programme that is relevant to their culture whilst staying true to our Christian beliefs.”
