On Friday 15 December, the Year 14 Sports Science students ran an event in association with Sport NI to raise awareness of mental health and give the Year 8 boys master classes in different sports, including Maui Thai, Wheelchair Basketball, Rugby, Ju-Jitsu and Boxing. The boys secured sponsorship for the event and stars like Joe Gormely (local football star) attended the event. TAMHI ( mental health awareness charity) provided a workshop in the afternoon and the Chair of Sport NI, Antoinette McKeown closed the event with a speech linking positive mental health to involvement in sport. The event was a great success and the Year 14 students provided an inspirational experience for the Year 8 boys!
