On Friday 23rd April the College’s Young Enterprise company, NI Recycle, attended the Big Celebration event in Titanic Belfast hosted by Pete Snodden. This event was the closing ceremony for all schools across Northern Ireland. Prior to this, they completed an interview and a presentation about their chatbot Ross who helps people with recycling. Ross works by the user taking a picture of a piece of rubbish, sending it to him via a messenger service and he will tell you what bin it should be placed in.
Due to their fantastic innovation and use of IT, NI Recycle were awarded the Innovation in IT award for the Belfast region. Pictured here is James Hanna, IT Director, accepting the award. The other members of the company are Colm Holbeach (Managing Director), Cormac O’Rourke (Managing Director), Neill Kelly (Marketing), Brent Holmes (Operations), Ryan Scott (Finance), Nathan Johnson (Sales) & Joe Gibney (Marketing Assistant).
The company wish to thank Liguori Dobbin (Regional Sales & Development Manager, Bank of Ireland) & Kelly Moore (Software Developer, Kainos) their business advisors for all their help throughout the process, we couldn’t have done it without them.
To progress to NI Finals they now need to produce a 60 second video about why their idea should win the overall NI trophy.
